i created a series of drawings back in 2016...they were inspired by african rock art and thinking about the terrorist attacks and the election here in the states...i had yet to go to paris and take the metro from the charles de gaulle airport through the blighted outskirts of the city to the moneyed interior...theres so much racism in this country, and watching the news cycle the election i see a small demographic desperately pushing back against the changing fabric of my country...i dont often know how to respond except through my art and make celebrations of the human form in work like this...although i have turned away from the figurative, mostly to protect myself from cynical disgust and focus on the bigger existential threat of human created climate change
